Saudi Arabia Demands RSF End Violation, Ensure Aid Access in Sudan

(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia has called on Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to "immediately" end what it described as serious abuses and to uphold their moral and humanitarian responsibilities by allowing aid to reach civilians in urgent need, according to official reports released late Monday.

The appeal was made during an interactive session in Geneva attended by Saudi Arabia’s permanent mission to the United Nations and other international bodies. The session followed an oral update by the UN high commissioner for human rights regarding the deteriorating human rights situation in and around El Fasher, as stated by reports.

During the briefing, UN rights chief Volker Turk said the “atrocities” committed in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur in western Sudan, rest “entirely” with the RSF and their allies and backers.

In remarks delivered by Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative, Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila, the kingdom reiterated its strong condemnation of what he described as “grave humanitarian violations” carried out during RSF assaults on El Fasher in October 2025.

Riyadh also denounced what it called RSF's “criminal attacks” targeting medical facilities, humanitarian convoys, and civilian infrastructure. These incidents reportedly resulted in the deaths of dozens of displaced individuals and unarmed civilians, including women and children.

Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its support for Sudan’s unity, stability, and security, as well as the safeguarding of its legitimate state institutions. It further demanded that the RSF “immediately” stop their violations and facilitate safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance in accordance with international humanitarian law, according to official statements.

The RSF took control of El Fasher on Oct. 26, 2025, and were accused by local and international organizations of carrying out mass killings against civilians.

Meanwhile, hostilities have escalated in recent weeks across Sudan’s three Kordofan states — North, West, and South — where intensified clashes between the Sudanese army and the RSF have forced tens of thousands of people to flee their homes.
